Episode 5

Voodoo Rainbow

About the Episode

After our Awesome Pittsburgh victory, we thought it would be great to attempt to find and event to fundraise at. Our friends at the Pittsburgh Food Tasters recommended we reach out to Voodoo Brewery who was hosting their Epic Food Truck Rally. I contacted Jake from Voodoo who said he's love to have us come fundraise if we would agree to donate the money to Rainbow Kitchen Community Services, a Homestead nonprofit that provides nutritious meals to hungry children, elderly and low income families.

Since 1984, Rainbow Kitchen Community Services has been a strong and reliable source of aid for those in need – and today, our help is needed more than ever!  In these challenging economic times, Rainbow Kitchen provides a vital safety net for hungry children, struggling families, low-income elderly and disabled individuals,  and people who are homeless, unemployed, or among the working poor.

Last year, Rainbow Kitchen provided 17,020 nutritious Kids Café dinner meals to hungry low-income children and served an additional 18,760 substantial daily meals to our Breakfast program participants.  We distributed 317,400 pounds of supplemental groceries to families in need through our Food Pantry program, and provided additional supportive services, including crisis assistance, short-term and extended case management, benefiting close to 200 households a month.
